Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Squisher and Squasher?

Squisher and Squasher is a children’s entertainment company founded by Emma Marie Davis and Benjamin Davis. The company specialises in children’s entertainment, particularly the pre-school age bracket. Squisher and Squasher produce full length stage shows and festival length shows, as well as operating craft activity centres for various functions and events. Most of the Squisher and Squasher shows have an emphasis on insects and always involve an interactive element to the shows as we believe the best way to learn and be engaged is through active participation.

How did Squisher and Squasher begin?

Squisher and Squasher began as a series of songs composed by Emma Marie Davis for her nephew Connor. After a trip to the Western Australian Museum, Connor developed a fascination with insects and would entertain Emma with interesting bug facts. Emma didn’t know much about bugs so she began listening to Connor’s stories. For each bug that Connor would introduce to Emma, she would write an accompanying song for the two of them to sing together. Eventually she had amassed quite a few songs and had the idea of turning them into a story for other children to enjoy.

Where did the Squisher and Squasher show premiere?

The very first production of Squisher and Squasher took place at Roleystone Theatre in October 2012. The show was a twenty minute show called “The Great Golden Butterfly Hunt”, which eventually went on to become “The Great Bug Hunt”. The show was part of the Storytime in the Hills Festival and played for six performances. The show starred Nicole George as Princess Charlotte, Kim Moore as Squisher, and Joshua Mitting as Squasher.

What age groups do you recomend attend the Squisher and Squasher show?

Our shows are suitable for all ages and recommended for ages 2 – 8 years old.

Do I need to book tickets for a show?

Generally the venues we perform in are small which means that seats are limited. The only way to guarantee your seats is to book them through the TICKETS tab at the top of this page. If there are un-sold seats for a session, we will offer them for sale at the theatre’s Box Office, but there might not be ANY for the session you make it to. Which would be a terrible shame for everyone involved!

How long do your shows go for?

Generally full stage shows run for 50mins with no interval and festival shows run for 20mins with no interval. All show running times are published in the event calendar. Please check your event details for up to date running times. Patrons who arrive late will be admitted to the show at a suitable break, however we encourage you to arrive with plenty of time.

Is there an opportunity to meet the characters?

Yes! We love meeting our audiences. After each performance there will be the opportunity to meet your favourite characters, speak with them, and have your photograph taken. If you are extra lucky you may just get to have a look inside the “Big Bug Guide Book” too!

Can I take my pram with me into the performance?

No, but we will cloak it for you. Due to the small size of the venues we perform in and for the safety of all patrons, prams, baby capsules, and large bags will not be permitted into the performance venue. These items can be cloaked for free in the foyer of the theatre and collected at the end of the show. The front of house staff reserve the right to prohibit items they see as a risk to others safety from entering the theatre.

    Do you accept companion cards?

Yes! Please contact us via the contact us page stating which show you would like to purchase tickets for, the date, time and number of tickets including the number of companion card tickets. All other ticket sales must be arranged via the booking website.

How do I find the venue?

Check your event listing in the calendar. There will be a link to google maps on each event page. Some event pages also have detailed instructions on how to get to the venue including public transport options and parking tips.
